We have a coat rack in our home which was a wonderful housewarming present from my friend Honter. In the past few months, coats have started migrating out of the closet and onto the coat rack. I finally realized the situation was out of control this morning when I had trouble walking out the door to go to work (the coat rack is next to the door) because this strange entity wanted to come with me and threatened to fall if I didn’t give it some attention. To describe what it looks like, it is not unlike a child’s rendering of a tree. You know, large circle on a stick, except large circle is made up of coats and scarves.
So despite being already late for work, I started pulling coats off and migrating them back into the closet, so that I may leave the house without the coat rack throwing a tantrum while we were away. I couldn’t believe what I pulled out from there. Scarves, coats, jackets that we thought were lost forever and, believe it or not, one coat that was on a hanger that was hung onto the coat rack.
I’ll give you three guesses as to who was responsible for that one.
Looks like we have a new yard sale location.
Hmm… could it be the same person with whos absence finally re-emerged a coat rack on the back of a door in DE that I wasn’t even really sure existed?? Seriously- I didn’t even touch that thing that just looked like a big fleecy, wooly, growth on the hallway door… my coats just always went on the floor somewhere.
When the fossil of the ancient coat rack was finally uncovered, guess what was found in there… a spring jacket thought to belong to the rare visitor Mike Rosen- obviously we’re not even sure how it got there, let alone was lost forever.
Guess where my coats hang now… on a shiny, empty hook- accompanied only by one other garment on its own glistening hook- Jeff’s coat : )
I write too much just for comments on your blog, huh? I should have my own blog. Actually I do… but then I’m not inspired : P
I feel you, Selena…
The coat rack at the old apartment hung over the door and had twelve hooks. Sometimes it was a struggle just to keep one clear for my one single coat.
When Greg moved we discovered that part of the problem was that we were storing coats belonging to other people who didn’t even live there. Not one, but two coats were found buried beneath Greg’s that belonged to friends who had thought they lost them.
when i visit i’m leaving my coat at home. just sayin.
Do you really have Mike’s coat? Because we have been looking for his lightweight jacket. Anyone, anyone? We thought we lost it at Denny’s. Is it navy blue?
That should have said attacked.
I got attached by the coat monster this morning. I went to grab my leather jacket off the rack, and the whole thing came down. It would have tackled me if it werent’ for my cat-like reflexes.
I concede, we need to put away a vast majority of the coats.
Good thing the weather’s getting better! What is a coat rack used for in the warmer months?
