Selena and I love 24; we watch it every week. We boo and hiss at the pushover President and cheer when our hero Jack Bauer shoots one of the bad guys. We also roll our eyes when we see an unnecessary sub-plot forming, like Sean Austin’s strung out sister, or the new overly-sensitive sexual harassment chic, or anything having to do with Kim Bauer.
Now watching 24 is fun, but reading “takes†on it can add to the enjoyment, especially when those opinions are coming from extremely witty columnist Dave Barry. Dave is a huge 24 fan as well and keeps a blog of the show that he updates with one-lines as he watches the show.
This has led to a whole new way of watching this program. When the beep-beep-beep-beep starts, Selena and I are on the couch, with drinks in hand and a laptop in front of us displaying Dave Barry’s 24 blog. Whenever we see something really funny, exciting or boring on the screen we hit F5 and most of the time Dave has made a comment about that same moment. It is like having a legendary humorist in the room watching TV with you.
I’ve had been reading Dave’s column “Wit’s End” in the Washington post since I was 12 or 13. My brother and I both read his books as well. He’s great!
