Selena’s brother Dean is finishing his sixth year of school and about to enter the pharmaceutical world, where we have no doubt he will become extremely important and successful, as he has excelled at just about everything he’s ever done. But, that’s still about a year away, and in the meantime, while putting himself through school, Dean is waiting table at a Red Robin in Menlo Park, NJ (famous for what Wizard?).
En route to New York City this weekend, Selena and I were compelled to seize the opportunity to have a little fun with him and stopped in at his restaurant to pay Dean a visit.
We arrived and made sure we were sat in his section. Dean was prompt, courteous and professional, a very good server. Unfortunately we weren’t very good patrons, as we took pictures of him, coerced him explain the restaurant décor, and demanded answers as to which Red Robin was the real Red Robin (there were multiple logos). Also, since it was in fact Selena’s birthday, I had to ask whether they did anything special, like a song with clapping per chance.
Dean’s reaction to my birthday request was telling me to watch the movie “Waiting.” Since my knowledge of that movie came from a preview that displayed cooks and saliva, I did grow slightly anxious about the state of my food. Fortunately, he just meant that Red Robin sings the same song that was in that movie.
So, with sundae and balloons in hand, Dean and the chorus of Red Robin singers came to our table. Dean led the group by proudly and loudly singing Happy Birthday to his sister. Selena, (while certainly uneasy because she was holding balloons), enjoyed the attention and the special birthday wish from her brother… and I enjoyed the sundae. Yum!
Happy Birthday Selena!!! And Greg, welcome to my myspace!!!
What a great story!
Happy birthday Skang!!!
