Prison Break Made Me Fat!

Posted by: Selena Kang

We knew we were in trouble when we watched the pilot episode on DVD during downtime between a wedding and a reception. Forcing ourselves to shut off the DVD player, we considered skipping this good friend’s reception. During the reception, we kept eyeing each other like teens with “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” glances. The answer was “YES! Let’s ditch this party and watch more TV!” But we restrained ourselves.

Now, TV on DVD has consumed our lives. This is the disadvantage when you don’t have to wait a full week until the next episode forcing you to do something else. We are currently halfway through Prison Break (read-don’t ruin anything or else we will hurt you!) with about 10-15 other TV box sets waiting to be watched. Anything that can possibly be put on hold (i.e. A WEDDING!?!), is put on hold. While Greg has more self-control, I have been away from the gym for about a month, I have two-week-old luggage still needing to be unpacked, I live in a clutter pile (which drives Greg nuts), I sleep less, I think about Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell during the day and have action movie-type dreams at night. Those are weird. Ridiculous “McDonald’s made me fat!” lawsuits pop up in my mind whenever I find myself anxious to watch TV.

I suspect things will return to normal when we finally finish Season One + four episodes on TiVo. I will HAVE to force myself to do something else in the days when Prison Break is not on. And I will probably feel most at ease when I acquire Wentworth Miller for our team (apparently, there are speculations which I must further investigate) after a night of drinking too much with Scott and Jason. Of course, I am expecting to end up with Richard Simmons in the process, and losing Ewan McGregor, but I will at least be sleeping peacefully through the night.

A bit of clarity for those of you as lost as I was by that last bit: Selena maintains a psuedo-reality where, as manager of the straight team, she can make trades with the gay team (also locally managed)for celebrity players she would prefer to play with… like Wentworth Miller, who to Selena’s utter disappointment, is rumored to not be currently on her roster.

Here is the thing about a show like prison break, how can you continue to call it that when they are out of prision? Isn’t it technically “The fugitive”.

Do I hear another night of bargaining coming up!?!?! Might have to get those cards out and ready to swap.

I have not watched PRISON BREAK, but have watched 20 hours of Season 2 of LOST in about five days….So, LOST made me fat…oh wait….I was already weighty before LOST.

Yeah, but I need to demote myself as manager of that though, because get a few beers in me and I think I acquired Scott and Jason’s garbage (i.e. Richard Simmons, Keanu Reeves…) and lost all of my hotties for men that were on my roster to begin with!

Hey – if you can’t handle the trading, that’s too bad – you’re the manager for life, baby. :)

(And yeah, I’m pretty sure we have Mr. Miller, so you’ll need to offer up a trade. Clive Owen seems reasonable.)

Clive Owen! Clive Owen! Clive Owen! He’s always on my team.

I am totally addicted to TV on DVD. It started with Sports Night, then moved on to Felicity, then Freaks & Geeks, then all 5 seasons of Angel in one summer, sprinkle in some 24, then LOST, then Entourage, and now Rescue Me. (Which kicks a@@, btw.) I’m a DVD whore. It’s the best invention ever.

Umm… Rescue Me kicks ass! Wow, you just said that- didn’t even realize- there’s just no other way to describe it, I guess : )

As for tv on DVD- I need more time for my tv-watching. I have been neglecting my poor television ever since I started this dumb-ass “real” job : ) Screw working full-time – I want to watch tv full-time! I have a disease… it began with “Friends”… it was too overwhelming for my system right from the start and there hasn’t been a cure strong enough since. These “work” and “house” things are trying, but hopefully my disease will prevail in the end!
