Good news, we have a home phone… with voicemail.
I know, we are hip and trendy. Actually, I don’t know why I ordered us a home phone when I moved in. Selena didn’t have one before, but I deemed was necessary, I think for the TiVo (hindsight note: a phone line is not needed for TiVo when you have wireless). Still, I ordered the phone, got it hooked up, gave out the number to our families… and never thought about it again.
Sometime in the Spring, after numerous frustrated family members asked Selena and I why we didn’t call them back, she went on the case to determine how to check our voicemail. Her plan: ask me to figure out how to check our voicemail. I got right on it, (if you consider “right on it” implying a three to four month window of time).
And I am good to my word, because last week I called Cavalier Telephone and had them walk me through the steps to get into my voicemail, set it up with a response message, and be able to access my existing messages.
I was so excited to have accomplished this goal I quickly picked up the phone, dialed the number, and began listening to the messages. The first was from my mom, it was dated “January 26th at 5:43pm”. I quickly hung up the phone, hopped on the couch, and returned to watching Prison Break. Ten months worth is way too many messages to go through. Maybe Selena will catch the voicemail up, so we can actually begin using it.
you don’t even know home close to home this post hits.

hey rania… i know you read this, how do you check voicemail?
Yeah, ditto here. About a year ago, I forgot what the phone number was to call to check VM. I asked a few people but none of them knew either. Earlier this summer, I changed my phone line down to its most basic components, ie no voice mail. So there were probably at least 8 mos worth of messages, probably from my Mom, that I never checked…
