I swear I don’t have a corresponding crochet project to each post, and don’t ask why this project even got made (long story) but…
Greg recently took up Chinese school in an effort to get closer to my family. It is a gesture that has touched the hearts of all of my family members and myself because of the great effort he puts into things that are important to me. My family has expressed to me multiple times how much they adore Greg (on top of many other reasons) because he does things like this. However, I question some of the things he is now learning to say. Today on my way home from karate, I get a phone call from Greg. He has just come out of Chinese school.
This is our conversation, more or less:
Greg: Nee how Wen!
Selena: Hi honey.
G: (muttered) Let’s see, let’s see… Wo…da…nee.
S: (Skeptically) You’re going to hit me?
G: YES! Cool! Okay…let me see…uh… Wo…MA nee.
S: You’re going to yell at me?
G: Ha ha ha!!! Yes! I’m just making some plans for the evening! Then, wo…mai…nee.
S: (getting concerned) You’re going to buy me?
G: Yes, but after that, (changes tonal infliction) wo…MAI nee.
S: You’re going to sell me?
G: Cool! You got it! Well, see you at home! Bye!
Hilarious! I’ve witnessed some of this myself, as Greg now responds to Evites in Chinese.
You guys are more kinky than I thought!
I just horked diet coke all over my screen. That was hysterical.
Good luck with the classes, Greg! That’s so sweet and we’re all rooting for you (but you might want to let Selena do the talking when next overseas…).
LOL – that is awesome!
I tried Chinese language tapes once, but never made it past lesson 3. I only remember how to say one thing (“I speak a little Chinese.”).
Wo hay shwa po-tum-qua, ee-de-are
(I speak a little Chinese)
So, how did the night go for you, Selena???
