Greg and Selena

When the football season was announced, I circled the two Eagles vs. Redskins games. These are the match-ups that allows for Selena and I to break out the jerseys (I have Eagles #5 McNabb, she has Redskins #53 Washington) and trash talk each other and root for our team to win.

Unfortunately, with the Eagles beat up and the Redskins playing awfully, I was no longer feeling compelled to watch the game, and agreed to go Christmas shopping with Selena and her sister Anna on Sunday instead.

En route to the mall, we listened to the game on the radio. The Redskins were playing pretty well but losing, while the Eagles were mailing it in and still winning — barely. It sounded like an exciting game, and we were lamenting that we chose to go shop instead of watch it.

That’s when Selena made a decision that makes me proud to be marrying this woman. Despite having a list of twenty people to shop for, despite having her underage sister with us, Selena determined that this game must be watched. We arrived at the mall, quickly parked the car and scampered to the nearest sports bar.

But we couldn’t just watch the game. No, we ordered pints of lager and plates of cheese fries (and a coke for Anna, she is a minor). We sat at the bar of Ruby Tuesdays and enjoyed watching the Redskins mis-manage the clock and allow the Eagles to steal the game. Well, one of us enjoyed that.

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!
