You’d never buy a car without test-driving it first right? So why settle into a lifelong marriage before trying one on for size? That’s the tag-line on a Marie Claire article titled The Starter Husband that was forwarded to Selena two weeks before her wedding.

No, I highly doubt that is the case… and since I’ve entered my opinion on what I’m sure is this rhetorical poll : ) …
I really like this line, which is probably one of the least related to the topic in the whole article- but still touches on a piece of the whole puzzle obviously, or she wouldn’t have included it. I just think it’s funny… and in some ways (probably other than the ways it relates to this topic,) I like that it feels true for me- you’re only as old as you feel!
“… today’s 20-somethings are living out an extended adolescence in a manner unlike any generation before them.”
Haha I saw the very same article! On the flip side you could be taking on a Starter Wife ala the mini-series on USA that starred Debra Messing. Selena – if you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it. It’s great!
I haven’t seen it. I didn’t know there was a Starter Wife concept, much less movie starring Debra Messing. That sure seems like the approach I would have expected from Marie Claire.
The women’s magazine could shine light on the concept that your husband may be thinking of your as a starter wife, and then offer tips and solutions in the pages and issues to follow.
Wouldn’t that sell more magazines, using that fear-mongering approach that makes men the bad guy instead of publishing, as they did, what I have to imagine is a pretty unpopular point of view.
