Today, I bought one of these at the grocery store:
At the checkout line, the cashier held this for a while, looked at me, looked at it, looked back at me again with a grin and said, “So what do you do with this?” To which, I stupidly replied, “It’s my first time using one. I’m trying something new.” To which, grocery bagger guy piped up, “Oh, I love those things. And when you cook them, they just get so soft and tender.”
The cashier and bagger man continue the conversation in a way that was just slightly too eager. Perhaps with any other vegetable, this conversation wouldn’t have been quite as weird to me. However, I was beginning to feel more and more conscientious. Especially with the trip ending with grocery bagger man standing in my comfort range wishing me a “very good night.”
As I was walking out, I remembered I had forgotten to buy an onion. And even though I was still in the grocery store, less than 10 feet away from a stack of onions, I left and drove to another grocery store to get one!
LOL! That is awesome. What a beautiful…vegetable.
Mmmm…butternut squash soup…how did it ultimately taste for you?
Came out really good! We froze it because we are doing Thanksgiving after Thanksgiving later this month.
