It’s official. I’m only two episodes in and I’ve already thrown myself into a full downward spiral. In light of the writer’s strike and lack of shows on, a friend recommended Gossip Girl on the CW.
I wanted to hate it. I didn’t want to admit that I watched anything on the CW. I didn’t want to watch anything created by people associated with The OC. I didn’t want anything to do with a show based on a book series created for 12 year olds.
Damn if I didn’t love it.
Damn if I didn’t shut off the pilot and text my friend to call him a jerk for getting me hooked, only to call him and talk about it right away. Damn if I didn’t jump onto my computer and surf the CW website for the rest of the night, desperately trying to find another full episode like a crack addict. Damn if I don’t question whether I’m a “Jenny†or a “Blair†in how I dress, or get sucked into what songs I should download to make the perfect Gossip Girl playlist. And damn if I didn’t plop Greg down in front of the TV and force him to watch it too.
Now we narrate our lives a la Gossip Girl, or, as I like to call him, Gossip Greg. But the joys of our lives as an old married couple having nothing in common with those outrageouly high-fashioned and rich alcoholic 15 year olds, which makes for vastly less interesting gossip that goes something like this:
Spotted: S and G together at the Giant, arguing over the need for more tuna. Looks like tuna’s not the main dish. What’s next, S? Vacuuming the rugs?

Busted: K shrieking like a pubescant little girl(I guess she’s a total Jenny after all.) Looks like the secret’s out, S… but don’t be ashamed- they’re all just jealous! Who better to set a trend than the queen of creativity, herself? K only wishes she was clever enough to obsess with as much grace and flair as S… guess those eyes are green for a reason, K : )
(p.s. Selena, please keep blogging like this! I freaked out when I read this- well, I am at work, but I was thinking it- to the point where you would have looked at me and said with that frightened look, “Whoa.” Haha… you can just create a whole blog for me to read if Greg objects : )
