Many a night, I come home from work and Selena is like:
Honey, did you get my email?
And I am like:
Um… No.
And then she gets all:
HONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I SENT YOU AN EMAIL!!!!!!!!!!!
Which leaves me like:
???
Because I am pretty good at checking my email, but I will have no idea what she’s talking about. In these situations, I just apologize because that’s what you do when your wife is yelling at you.
But today, I couldn’t find an email from a co-worker that I knew to look for, so I started exploring my Outlook a bit more to see if it got moved on me, and that’s when I found the Junk Mail folder, and look what was inside:

It’s the Folder of Lost Emails. Everything that Selena has been trying to send for months now was waiting here for me to find it. Sadly, none of its relevant any more, expect to prove that I wasn’t losing it, that I did indeed never see these emails before. And now I know where to look
Dude, always check your Spam folder. Those filters tend to get a lot of false positives.
Ouch! I hope there was nothing important! Like what’s happening on THE GOSSIP GIRLS…busted Selena!
Wow, I’m glad most things had “no subject.” Sucks that the only thread I cared enough to come up with a subject line for was Gossip Girl! You got me, Scotte!
Isn’t this what is called “selective listening?”
I just tried to send something to your email address, and it bounced… now I know.
Aww… I feel so bad for Selena! My e-mails to Jeff lots of times end up in some mysterious abyss as well- but somehow only when we are the only two addresses involved. Suspiciously, group messages are received and responded to all day long… this may not be the same situation : )
I mostly feel bad though for the one (other than Gossip Girl) that was titled, “Please call me when you…”- I have used that same convention, hoping that for JUST THIS ONCE my message would be read in a timely fashion, and I would have an answer to my obviously urgent request. Poor, neglected Selena…
At least I am not a wife!
I have now added Selena to the “Safe Sender” list, so no more emails get lost.
