Selena teases me because when I was 12, Poison was my favorite band, and so now 20 years later, when she pointed out their lead singer had a reality TV show, I got sucked in, and found out that I am still a fan. I tell Selena we are going to go see Poison when they come through with a reunion tour this summer; she is none to happy about this.
But the bigger news than Selena being less than thrilled with my taste in concerts is that we both are thrilled with Bret’s taste in women. [SPOILERS]. Bret chose Ambre, the woman who he felt comfortable around, who was nearly his same age, who was trying to make Bret happy. This meant Bret sent home Daisy, the very VERY dim stripper with the large rack, overt sexuality and strange mannerisms and voice. Selena could not help laughing every time she talked.
The choice made me very happy because it was the right call, and it proved me right, that Bret was able to look past the physical assets and find someone that was good for him. Granted, he gave little indication he had that skill throughout the weeks of the show: taking the girls on dates to a strip club or a lingerie store, making a challenge to make a strip tease video, and generally stating in the cut-aways how he wasn’t listening to the girls he was checking out their racks. Selena was appalled; I said I want to be just like him.
And I think I will be, maybe on Halloween. I’m thinking of Bret and Daisy costumes for Selena and I. True, Ambre was the “Rock of Love”, but Daisy was such a caricature (SNL lampooned her and Bret), that she would be far more fun for Selena to portray.

I love Poison too. I still do. I even liked Skid Row, Motley Crew, Warrant and GnR. I was a metal head. Although, not a big fan of Unskinny Bop. A little bit too poppie for a metal band.
I still have 3 Poison songs on my Nano, and as long as I don’t look too closely would still say Brett’s pretty hot. I’d go see him this summer!
One time Selena and I were driving through VA, somewhere near Charlottesville, we found a radio station playing Hair Band Friday, and it was all those favorites, Joanner, one after the other. I was singing along the entire ride.
Bret also called Ambre his “Rock of like, rock of lust, rock of love”. I always got a kick out of when he’d give them the letter with clues of what would be happening that day. They were written in lyrics and had music staffs accompanying, so it could have been songs, except to hear the girls aloud, those would have been the worst songs ever written.
But then you read the lyrics for actual Poison songs…
…and? What are you trying to say, Selena? They talk about cowboys… in a rock song… how much more ‘sexy’ do you want?!
