Below is really gross picture of my leg today and I’m kind of proud. I’m proud because I know how it came to look like this. I know that this wasn’t the first or last time I get bruises like these.
I went back to sparring at taekwondo training on Saturday and fought for a whole hour. These bruises are actually a sign that I’ve improved my game and that they showed up for the first time in places they were supposed to show up. And after obsessively following taekwondo in the Olympics, I saw pros doing the same things that create the same bruises. That was definitely reassuring.
Unfortunately, Greg isn’t as excited as I am. He’s excited for me, but he definitely doesn’t like how he comes out looking in all this. Especially when in reality, he’s far, far away quietly minding his Facebook or perhaps Twittering somewhere. Unless you are married to Steve-O, watching your spouse getting kicked repeatedly must be such an odd thing to try to be supportive of. I am so lucky that he is.

So you have improved your “cower technique’? This is a big step. Although first taught in the first class, only the masters fully understand its importance and efficiency. You are one step closer to enlightenment. I’ll follow your journey closely. Peace be with you, grasshopper.
