We had been toying with the idea of giving up HBO, since all we cared about, really, was Flight of the Conchords.

Then I discovered True Blood.

With the season finale approaching on Sunday, I was somehow able to watch all 11 episodes in three days, staying up many a night until 2 a.m. or later, not knowing what Greg looked like anymore, and dragging myself into work during the day. I am completely obsessed, to the point that I am looking up everything True Blood all the time.

True Blood is a grown up Twilight. It’s sexier, scarier and much more complex, raising moral and ethical questions of vampires and humans co-existing. Throw in some really fantastic actors, lovable characters and a great setting and I am on the edge of my seat watching from my “station,” as Greg called it.

I’ve heard of some fans of the 8 book series that are disappointed with the show and fans of the show that don’t care to read the series. Apparently, there are some key differences. Me, on the other hand, I can’t wait to read AND watch.

I’m a huge fan of the books, and not very excited about the show. I don’t have HBO so I haven’t seen it yet, but I haven’t decided yet if I’ll get it on DVD. I think it’s one of those cases of having such a strong vision in your head from the books, and just feeling that some of the casting is way off. I am not a fan of Anna Paquin, though I think she could probably pull off Sookie okay other than the terrible accent I’ve heard. But the actors playing Bill and Eric and Sam don’t look ANYTHING like those delicious visions of the men I have in my head… and some of the stories are different, as I hear. I am totally in love with the characters, so I strongly recommend reading the books. Like you said, it’s grown-up Twilight, with more interesting characters and situations and mythology. Each book has its own central mystery to be solved, too. I’m totally hooked!

Oh man. I probably wouldn’t have been attracted to Bill and Eric and Sam if I was watching them in anything else, but they are really, really hot on this show. And they are GOOD!

I just bought the first book today!

You can not give up HBO! How will you see the Direwolves or if Jon Snow is really Asian?

We’ve fallen completely for TRUE BLOOD. Have had marathons to catch up…we are now caught up, minus last night’s episode and the remaining ones of season 2. I’ve started reading the first book, but so far I don’t like it as much I do the tv series. There are some changes from the books, to the screen, but I think they are good. Great show!
