I feel I must at least throw in another opinion from The First State (of Greg), if not necessarily a vote for it. I concur, that it is not as if DC ‘owns’ Greg as he spent almost 30 of his natural born years in DE… and we did ‘have him first’ as The Duck pointed out : )

However, I don’t know that this warrants the traditional clubbing over the head of the wife, and dragging her back to the home cave… I do think you guys seem to be of a more metro-centric lifestyle/personality. In my opinion, your many interests would be better served in a larger metro area than Wilmington, DE (Philly proximity aside- it really isn’t at all the same thing.)

But, I’m not saying what area- that’s up to you! Pros and cons lists- it helps.

I vote Fairfax, and I’m not talking about Virginia. Sorry kids, but Delaware had Greg first. He moved down to DC to marry Selena and now it’s time to bring her home!

For me, staying near the Metro is important if we are in MD or DC, not as much in VA, as the commute would not be such as issue from there since it doesn’t involve crossing or circumnavigating a major city.

@faye I too find all the Glebe Road’s in Arlington very confusing. Further into VA you find every road is number six hundred and something. What’s with the lack of differentiation in the commonwealth, VA peeps?

Greg,

While I completely understand the voices who have weighed in with the pro-DC sentiment, there are other factors to consider. DC is indeed a wonderful city.

However, as a resident of Virginia and in particular of Alexandria, I can vouch for the pleasure derived from a shortened commute.

Additionally, as strange as it may seem, there are actually some nice things to do in Alexandria and Arlington that are fairly convenient and cultural.

Plus, your all’s peeps in DC and MD are but a short Metro ride from your new place.

I would personally recommend the Alexandria area because that’s where I live, but I know of many folks who are quite happy in Arlington, Shirlington, Crystal City, Springfield, etc. etc. . The communities within Alexandria are many. However, Del Ray pops into my mind as a potential neighborhood that may be of interest to you and Selena.

Anyhow, that’s my 2 cents Greg.

I suggest Del Ray, ( Zip 22301) nice area, not as pricey as Old Town, and very close to work.
