While we were using hydrogen peroxide on our couch, Selena mentioned that when she was sick as a kid her parents had her gargle a combination of hydrogen peroxide with salt.
What?!?!
I don’t know what to say about that. In the moment, my only response was, “I am very glad that you are still alive.”
Yikes.
it’s true…we did as well. no really, we did…especially if we had a cut or bit our lip/tongue…
Um…I STILL do this. Whenever I get that tickle in my throat that indicates that a sore throat may be coming on, I put about a tablespoon of Hydrogen Peroxide into about 1/4 cup water and gargle. Staves off the sore throat every time.
You can also use salt water (saline) as well but I swear by peroxide.
It is also useful for cleaning cuts and scrapes (rinse until it stops bubbling and you know the wound is clean) and bleaching fine washables, that cannot handle the chemical strength of chlorine bleach (like antique lace).
But maybe that’s just me…
